Default Slipstream Airways 4 Year Celebration

As most of you know, Virtual Airlines have a tendency to come and go with great frequency. Since I have been associated with this hobby (December of 2004), I have seen some really great Virtual Airlines emerge with great Public Relations, Livery, and Websites. However, just as quickly as these airlines appear, they slowly slip into stagnation and then, eventually, cease to exist.

Admittedly, it is not easy to keep an active Virtual Airlines. Like any hobby, activity is cyclical. To be recognized as a great virtual airline, it requires:
    • UNYIELDING desire to NOT ACCEPT FAILURE
    • Endless HOURS of unpaidm and unrecognized work
    • PASSION and DEDICATION for a hobby that generally offers nothing in return
    • A CEO with great VISION
    • A DEDICATED staff to support the vision
    • LOYAL pilots that can APPRECIATE the hard work and effort that goes into such an elaborate organization
    • Friendship, comradery, community, and helpfulness

Slipstream Virtual Airways has been able to survive 4 YEARS of successful operations because we have been fortunate enough to meet many of these requirements. Moreover, we have done this with one idea in mind:

With the many years of dedication that you, the pilots, have given us; it is time for Slipstream Airways to return the favor.

Building on the success of last years celebration, Slipstream Airways has decided that beginning midnight July 27, 2010, and running through midnight of August 28, 2010, Slipstream Virtual Airways is going to celebrate 4 years of operations by making all aircraft in the fleet Class I.

This means, that all pilots will be able to fly any aircraft in the Slipstream Airways network regardless of pilot class. So, if you are currently a Class I captain and would like to fly a Class V aircraft (such as the MD-11F), you will be able to do so. Our entire network will be open to you without restriction!

It must be made clear, that you can not deviate from the Slipstream Airways network. So, you can not change aircraft on their designated routes (swapping a 737 for a 767). The network MUST remain in tact during this event. Additionally, this does not mean that you can fly anywhere you want. Flights that are completed MUST be done from the Slipstream Airways flight schedule.

Thank you for sharing the last 4 years with us. We know that there are many other virtual airlines to choose from, whether they be fictional or real-world based. The fact that many of you have stuck it out with us through the ups and downs is humbling.

Thank you all again! Lets celebrate! See you all in the skies!

Yay! for Slipstream Airways! Last years celebrations were fantastic; from what people were talking about; it was fantastic to be able to fly routes that we might not have the hours to do so at the time; I know I considered a few 747-400 flights; but ended up getting caught with mid-year exams... and with only two hours to go (according to LA time) until the celebrations begin, and with well over two weeks still left to run on the Summer Scramble; Slipstream is the place to be for July & August.

Just to give those new pilots a taste of last year's event, this is what Chris put on the forums during last years celebrations and it shows the amount of dedication everyone has to this airline:-

    Total Miles: 237,224 NM
Average Flight Duration: 5 hours, 38 minutes
So imagine what everyone is going to get up to this year. Nevertheless; well done to every single pilot who currently flys for the airline as well as pilots who have come before us to help get this VA to four years of service and may there be many more years ahead

Once again; well done to everyone and let's PARTY!!!!!!

Congratulations to Slipstream for 4 years as the top notch VA in the world.

This year all pilots will be able to fly any class of aircraft in the fleet for an entire month. That is simply OUTSTANDING!

I thank the staff and executive team at Slipstream for 4 years of dedication and guidance. It is fun to be here with all y'all. You know we all appreciate what you do for us.

Wow! I can't believe it's been that long, where does the time go! I joined this VA when it was still an infant, served both as a pilot and staff, and she has always been good to me. The best VA I've ever had the pleasure to see my pilot number affiliated with. This VA is what it is because of the devotion and dedication of it's senior staff (Chris, Tyler, Kevin, Kenneth - we go way back, Bobby we go even further) and to the testiment, dedication and pride of it's pilots (past, present and future).

Congrats Slipstream, you've earned your place in VA history!

It would be amiss of me not to post on this fantastic achievement! 4 years WOW it only seems like yesterday that i joined for the first time, yes, i had a little relapse , this was the first VA that i ever joined and i did have my doubts, not about the VA but about myself and whether i could be a decent member of a VA with my limited knowledge. So after i'd joined i sent Chris a PM saying just that, what did i get in reply? Not just one line saying oh well tough luck if you can't do it don't bother, but a full page reply explaining everything i needed to do and his expectations of the future of Slipstream, but more importantly a friendliness and welcome and willingness to help that goes beyond the norm. I did leave for a little while (like the fool i am) but came to my senses and when i re-applied what did i get??????Not just an OK you're back but a fantastic, we've kept your bed warm for you . The staff here are beyond compare, Chris and Bobby are passionate about Slipstream Airways (as am i ) and it never ceases to amaze me about the fantastic developments that have happened and no doubt others that are to come , they are always willing to help in any way they can as are the fantastic membership we have here.
Gents, Slipstream is really something special in the VA World, so lets give it a really BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY , it rises above the rest because it simply is the best .

I hope everyone enjoyed this event! I'm sure it was great having every SSA airframe at your disposal. I've noticed we have several new Class V pilots now as well!

Yeah; I got to Class V during the forum shutdown and this wonderful event (or was it during the Summer Scramble???) Seriously; it was a fantastic event, I got a good variety of flights done around Los Angeles then headed off on a nice round-the-world trip to finish off, so congratulations to the management of Slipstream for once again organising such a great event to celebrate the airline's birthday. Here is to another year of wonderful service to the public and here is to hopefully seeing this kind of event back next time around
