Slipstream Virtual Airways Press Release
for Immediate Circulation
Los Angeles, CA - Thursday, July 8, 2010 - Slipstream Airways, a United States based commercial airline, announced this evening after a long board meeting, that it has decided to integrate Arrow Cargo's DC-10 freighters into the Slipstream Global Logistics fleet. It was previously thought that the airline would simply sell or scrap the older McDonnell Douglas aircraft.
Yesterday, Slipstream Airways reached and finalized an agreement with Arrow Cargo, a subsidiary of Arrow Air Holdings Corp., to assume all airframe, ground equipment, logistical, office space, and human assets as a result of the cargo carriers recent announcement to cease operations.
Slipstream Global Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Slipstream Virtual Airways, will take control of Arrow Cargo's active and stored fleet of DC-10-30F and DC-10-40F. This is in addition to the 757-200F and MD-11 aircraft that were previously announced. The DC-10 fleet consists of:
1 DC-10-10F
- N68041
4 DC-10-30F
- N478CT (-30CF)
- N450ML
- N526MD
- N524MD
2 DC-10-40F
- N140WE
- N141WE
Slipstream Global Logistics (SGL) has immediate plans to integrate the 757-200F's in the SGL network as soon as transition details, and aircraft inspections have been performed, and the same can now be said for the DC-10's. The MD-11F's will follow after a consignment deal has been reached with World Airways later this month.
Kenneth Smith, Executive President of Slipstream Airways said, "As I stated yesterday, our airline is looking to wholeistically grow our Global Logistics division. After some heavy thought and discussion, we have determined that this fleet of DC-10's will help us to do just that. We basically came to the conclusion that these are workhorses that have life left in them, and we need to take advantage of them."
